WEAK MEMORY

DEFINITION:

" It is the ability to remember past experience and the power of recalling to mind previously learned facts,experiences,skill and habits."

 TYPES OF MEMORY:

 Short-term memory:

"This is the capacity of mind in an active readily available state for the short period of time. The time of short term memory is about 30 seconds"
Brain records what we see,hear,feel,taste,and smell with perfect precision and can recall them better leter.
This type of memory also called "primary or active memory or working memory".

Long-term memory: 

"This type of memory defined as the information and knowledge can be stored for long period of time.The capacity of long-term memory could be unlimited . Long-term memories can lost for just a few days, or for many years.

CAUSES OF MEMORY LOSS:

Memory loss is a problem that effects most people.Loss of short term memory interferes with daily life.These are the common things that can cause memory loss.

1. SLEEP DISORDER. 

 Quality and quantity of sleep are very important to memory.little sleep can lead to fatigue so disturb the ability of concentration and retrieve information.

2. STRESS AND DEPRESSION:

 Tension and depression or anxiety make it difficult to pay attention on a work or study . This resulting in memory loss.

ROLE OF VITAMINS AND SUPPLEMENTS TO IMPROVE MEMORY:

1. VITAMIN B12:

    Certain vitamins and fatty acids have been said to slow or prevent memory loss. Important are Vitamin B12,supplements of ginkgo biloba and omega-3 fatty acids.
Having enough B12 (cobalamin) in your diet can improve memory. Remember Vitamin B12 is water soluble vitamin ,body does not store them . you should get daily enough quantity of Vitamin B.
Reasons of Vitamin B12 deficiency: People with bowel or stomach issues or only Vegetarian  has been shown to lower B-12 level .

2. ANTIOXIDANTS OR VITAMIN C & E: 

 Vitamins C ,E and Beta carotene are antioxidants and are also important vitamins for memory. Antioxidants protects brain tissue by break down free radicals which are toxic forms of the oxygen molecule natually found in the blood stream. Anti oxidant vitamins prevent damage to the basic brain structure. 
 These vitamins found in naturally in blueberries,strawberries,sweet potatoes,red tomatoes, spinach,nuts and seeds,and in citrus fruits such as orange and grapefruits.

 3. OMEGA FATTY ACIDS:

 Omega fatty acids are actually a class of good fats.
These fats help protect the brain against inflamation and high cholesterol.

4.  L- TYROSINE :

 Studies indicate that this supplement is most effective in boosting mental performance when taken during times of stress or fatigue.

 BACOPA MONNIERI: 

 Also known as Brahmi.Brahmi is an effective and powerful herb helpful for memory  and stress. Bacopa monnieri acts as adaptogen which means it helps the body adapt to new and stressuul situation.Brahmi increased the utilization of nitric oxide in the body .It provides protection against oxidative damage, a type of cellular damage caused by free radicals.
